Carisbrooke Shipping, an international shipping company, has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with UK solar technology startup Grafmarine to deploy the NanoDeck solar solution on its vessels.
Grafmarine's NanoDeck is a versatile solar energy platform integrating generation, storage, and remote management. The hexagonal, modular design aims to transform any flat surface into a power hub. The companies collaborated over the past year, testing NanoDeck technology on a Carisbrooke vessel.
The successful trial on the UAL Osprey has prompted plans to implement the solution on other vessels after additional tests. The partnership aligns with Grafmarine's commitment to greenifying the marine sector and supports the International Maritime Organisation's vision for cleaner, renewable power sources to reduce environmental impact. Test locations include Equatorial waters, the Celtic Sea, and the Port of Tyne, with plans for further sites across Europe.
